 Telstra Test Fax
Article Telstra have a facility which allows you to test your fax machine and phone line. The tests performed include transmission level, signal quality, transmission speed, transmission quality/error rate.

How?  Simply fax 1-2 pages full of text to 1300 368 999 from the line you wish to test. About 1 to 5 minutes later a fax of 2 pages will be sent back including the Test Fax results.

Most problems are due problems caused by a faulty fax machine or phone line or an attempt to use a VOIP service for faxes (not recommended).

This will not work correctly if you fax machine station ID (TSI) is not set correctly.  This should be set to the fax number in a 10 digit format ie. 02 9123 1234

If the results show any results that are not good/excellent, these should be investigated by someone locally to help identify and fix the issues.
One recommended test would be to do an isolation test - that is remove all other devices such as phone handsets, cordless basestations, ADSL Modems, Adsl filters, answering machines, double adaptors, phone extension leads, alarm system dialers etc. then do a fax to Telstras fax number again.  If that fixes the problem then that means one or more of the devices removed was the cause of the problem.

Hopefully that helps, please contact our support team if you need help to further investigate the problem.
